Masdar city ( Opinion )

In my opinion Masdar city is an excellent project because in my vision this city will be a flagship in the future to face the global worming. It's impressive because everything in this city will recycle and the people will not need any nonrenewable energy in this city. Nothing is impossible, I appreciate that UAE government's support this city by money and attract companies to build this city.

Masdar city

Masdar city is the city near to the airport of Abu Dhabi which car-free city, zero-waste and zero-carbon. The government has provided a budget of US$22 billion to build this city. Masdar city provides more than 70,000 jobs to attract people and the government is using the best technology and renewable energy to create a cleaner city. Moreover Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) will support a group of students and professors to focus on developing the next generation of solutions to the world's growing dependence o fossil fuels. About 1500 houses for business people and 50000 houses for the other people will build in the Masdar city. Also Masdar city will save tons of CO2 by using a solar power.

Renewable energy solutions

Renewable energy is the natural clean sources of energy like the sun and wind. The benefit of renewable energy is reducing the global worming and it can replace the nonrenewable energy. We can get the electricity by using modern wind turbines and solar cell.

Energy Efficiency Solutions

Energy efficiency means using less energy by using a better technology to generate the power for the city. By reducing energy we can save energy and reduce the global worming. The solution to make new building more energy efficient is designing building with a high quality of standards. By developing lighting, heating, cooling, and other operations the energy of existing buildings will be reduced. Another solution to get energy and save money is replacing the traditional lights with a light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. Also the government can support the energy efficiency project by using the money from the raising cost on consumer energy bills. Other solution we can produce both electricity and steam by using combined heat and power systems.

Green Vehicle Solutions

Transportation is the main source to increase the global worming. For example old buses pollute the air by smell of black smoke. On the other hand governments buy vehicles to provide the taxpayer services. There are many solutions to solve these problems. First governments can reduce the air pollution and save their money by greening their fleets with hybrid gaselectric or gallon of gas. Second they can also encourage people to buy hybrid vehicles with facilities such as free parking and low taxes. Third they can change the old buses with new buses work with hybrid-electric diesel or natural gas which are friendlier with environment

Cool cities

Cool city is the place where you find three qualities on it cleaner vehicles, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. It is the main solution to stop the global worming. Moreover it's a great idea to change our resource from nonrenewable energy to renewable and depend on it. Also it saves taxpayer and makes our life healthier than ever. By taking an effective actions to build cool cities will be an injection to stop the global worming.

What can we do?( Carbon Footprint )

There are many solutions to reduce the increasing of carbon dioxide. We shouldn't travel by air but of course it's difficult to us. Another solution is using renewable energy. For example we have to stop using oil and gas because they wastage energy and I think the government should find out another renewable energy. We have to using a mass transit more than using car and train. The third solution is growing trees. Trees can give O2 and take CO2. Human can also reduce buying food, traveling by train, wasting electricity.

Measure your Footprint

After I measured my footprint I found that I need about two planets or more space to live. I found that I spend my money in stuff more than other things about %31. After that I buy food and eat at %28. The lowest percentage in my footprint is the home which at %17. My footprint is approximately 10.12 tonnes per annum and I think it's not very high but I support the problem by increasing the carbon dioxide in the air. However, in my opinion in future, these records will be double because I'm growing up.

What is Carbon Footprint?

A Carbon Footprint is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment. Green houses and human activities are responsible to produce carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is two oxygen atoms with single carbon atom. There are two kind of Carbon Footprint the first one is a primary footprint and the second is secondary footprint. Primary footprint is measure the direct impact of human activities on the environment for example gas and electricity. On the other hand secondary footprint is measure the indirect impact of human activities on the environment for example bottled water and eating red meet. Human activities cause many problems for example the temperature is increasing and the climate is changing.

An Inconvenient Truth ( Opinion )

In my opinion An Inconvenient Truth is a fantastic movie because it shows for people that their life in risk because of global worming. I like this movie because the phenomena are shown with more information and comparing between these days and ten hundred years ago. I strongly agree with Al Gore when he wants to make people more seriously. There are many solutions to face the global worming. First I suggest countries to use renewable energy and leave using nonrenewable energy. It's a good idea to put the factories outside of the city and better to reduce them. I believe that creating a peaceful life in our hands.

An Inconvenient Truth

An convenient Truth is a movie show the dangerous of global worming with the results, facts and convincing style. Al Gore lost his U.S. presidential election in 2004 against Bush. Moreover he lost his battle when he tried to make people more seriously to face the global worming. He didn't give up and sent his massage by making An convenient Truth movie. Al Gore compares the two graphs of temperature in the northern Hemisphere and CO2 concentration in the past 1000 year. The results are ocean temperature rising, more tornados, hurricanes and strong big waves. Also in the North Pole the ice is melting so of course the sea level is increasing. He provides many solutions to solve the global worming and to make the people serious.

What is my project?

English 174 cool cities project is a project should summarize 12-18 essays by your own words (don't copy and paste) and have a good blog with a lot of pictures and video. First I should create new blog for me. After that I have to write about myself. Then I have to watch An Inconvenient Truth movie to summary and tell my opinion about it. Then I have to look at what is the footprint? Measure your footprint and what can we do?. Third I have to write about cool city, Green Vehicle Solutions, Energy Efficiency Solutions and Renewable Energy Solutions. Forth I have to summarize Masdar city and give an opinion. I should put all of these summaries with pictures and video. Then I have to do a presentation to show what I did in this project.

• Performance in English class is kind of like a football match. When the match is over, you may ask yourself some questions.

• The bad things when I got 65 in speaking test, I think that I didn't deserve it

• By giving more practices and correct our mistakes. I believe that if the teacher gives extra classes, we will improve. I think that teacher should discuss with his/her student about grade, family situation and what is next.

• Honestly, I felt more responsibility when I reached this level. Step by step I found that I improved and have more ability to do more.

• Yes, the course was interesting and I enjoyed it. However I think it’s a good idea to put "balloon debate" at the end of semester.
  

Argument: TV

Television is a great invention which was made in 18th century. In the UAE some people say that TV is useful more than harmful and other don't agree with this. I will look at TV if it's useful more than harmful or not.

"TV is an invention to waste your time" some people say. TV is used to enjoy your time and waste it. For example comedy movies and singing programs aren't benefit and probably they make you busy from your works. They believe that TV doesn't give the real news. News and some programs give rumors and lies to escape the reality. For example Aljazeera News is showing everyday more than program for rumors, lies and a part of the truth to make their channel more exciting. However, movies, cartoons and other program effect especially on children. Children want to do like what they because they think that it's possible to do. For example superman is a hero in cartoon program who have amazing abilities and children want to fly like him so they want to imitate and that’s dangerous.

On the other hand some people say "TV is useful more than harmful". In my opinion there many channels are showing programs which give information about life and creature. Animal Planets is a channel which gives enough information about animals and how can we save them from threat. Although news channels give some of rumors, they give a part of truth which I think it's enough to know what happens around us. Moreover they are trying their best to find the realities so they will find these rumors from unknown resource.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that TV is more useful than harmful and it's depends on how people use it.

Table:Children killed in road accidents

This table shows the number of children killed in road accident in a 3 month in 2004. Overall, playing in the street is the common place where accident happened.

The highest number of accidents happened when the children play in street which around 214 accidents. On the other hand the lowest number of accidents when they went to school about 25 accidents. Moreover the children who on between 15 and 16 ages has the lowest number in accidents. The age between 5-7 has the largest number of accidents.

In conclusion, playing in the street has the largest number in accidents happened, followed by shopping for their parents, cycling in the street.

Line Graph: Number of visitors to Canada from Italya & Belgium

The line graph shows the number of visitors from Italy and Belgium to Canada from 1997 to 2006. Overall, the trend of the Italian visitor was upward and the same for Belgium visitors between 1997 and 2006.

Between 1997 and 1998 the number of Belgium visitors increased to 300 thousand visitors it leveled off from 1998 to 1999. On the other hand there was gradual increase number of Italian visitors from 1997 to 2000. Suddenly in 1999 the number of Belgium visitors dropped to 100 thousand visitors. In 2000 there was a rapid increase in the number of the Italian visitors and the same thing in the number of Belgium visitors about 550 thousand Italian visitors and approximately 500 thousand Belgium visitors. After that the both number of the visitors went up between 2001 and 2005. From 2005 to 2006 there was an improvement in the number of the Belgium visitors. Also the number of Italian visitors rose in 206 about 350 thousand.

In conclusion, there was an improvement between 1997 and 2006 in number of visitors of both countries.

Pie Charts: Valentine's Day Gifts

The two pie graph compare what type of gifts are men and women buy for each other on Valentine's Day in the USA. Overall, spa/personal care, lingerie and perfume have the lowest percent in what men and women in the USA buy for each other on Valentine's Day.

Cards have the largest percentages for both genders at 18% for the men and 27% for the women. After that flowers are the second type of gifts for men to buy at 16% and approximately 5% for women. The second gift for women to buy is candy where as it is third in the men's chart around 14%. Other gifts are bought at similar rates for both genders. The lowest three gifts are spa/personal care, lingerie and perfume. The percentages are between 1 and 10 percent.

In conclusion, cards have the largest percentages for both genders, followed by candy and flowers. The lowest percent in what men and women in the USA buy for each other on Valentine's Day.

My name is Oprah Gail Winfrey and I was born in Mississippi, USA on January 29, 1954, I'm an American television host, media mogul and philanthropist (act of donating money, goods and time). I have faced racism, I talk about racism in all of her episodes. I voted for Obama who a nomine in the 2008 USA presidential election to prove that she is against racism.

I think I'm the best because I solve many common problems by my style in argument and discussion.

I believe that I'm a generous woman because I donate money and goods from my showing program to support a charitable cause.

I feel that I'm needed in this world because Oprah Winfrey show program is showing to 22 channels and more than 30 million Americans

I have done many things in my life. My main achievements are that I was the richest African American of the 20th century. Moreover I'm the most philanthropic African American of all time. Also I'm the most influential women in the world.

Argument-Should smoking be banned?

Tobacco is an agriculture product and it's for smoking. Some people say that smoking should be banned and disagree. I will look at smoking from the both sides.

"The government shouldn't ban smoking" smokers say. They shouldn't ban it because there are other threats risk the human life. For example eating a lot and climbing mountain are threats and the government should ban them first. If they ban smoking they will not give the right of personal freedom. They think that smoking is very different from other threat. Although it causes many diseases, it gives a kind of comfort and relaxes. People say that Tobacco is not dangerous as much as alcohol. In addition the government will lose tax, if they ban smoking. Many smokers are of the opinion that most people on earth are smoking. I disagree with this argument. They said that person who live with smokers are a responsible to be in that places. Finally they said that there are no evidence against companies which are produce Tobacco and other things. Although Companies sell these products to earn money, they don't harm consumers.

On the other hand, many people believe that Tobacco is more harmful than alcohol and drugs. It has killed about 400,000 people in the US. I believe that government is a responsible and must ban smoking. However the governments face the personal freedom as an excuse for smokers to smoke so I suggest them to revise the content of personal freedom. I agree that smoking harm the atmosphere and the environment. Moreover it harms the people who don't smoke. The governments should ban the advertising because without advertising the smokers will be quite and take them away from smoking. In my opining I see that smokers couldn't smoke if they have want to because smoking is a chemical compulsion.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that government should ban smoking.
